Obesity has grown to be a threatening problem as dangerous as the global warming over the last decade. It is increasing at an alarming rate in all parts of the world even after so many campaigns and health knowledge provided by the media. Can anyone blame the food industry for this? Are they playing a responsible role to the society by selling obesity? There are uneducated people who do not even know the meaning of healthy food and unknowingly they are consuming way more foods than they actually need.
Food industry has been very dishonest and irresponsible in few occasions. For an instance, once it was declared that hydrogenated fat is a replacement for butter and are helpful for people with heart problems. But later research found that it was just the opposite case. It meant more harm to heart than butter.
Obese people are going seriously wrong somewhere. Either they have far too much to eat or they eat the wrong food at the wrong time. And when it comes to dealing with obesity, people couldn’t be more confused. We are overwhelmed with information and we do not know what to do. We sometimes go the wrong way and pass it to our next generation.
Governments of all countries have taken steps to make all the food companies provide certain information about their products so that customers can see it and then buy. Things like how much calorie they contain and how much fat they have are normally written on the packets.
Now it is our duty to choose whether we want to lead a fit and healthy life or a life that is so measurable that we feel shame to go out of our home. Before consuming a food, always ask yourself the question, is it the right food? You can play the blame game and say that the food industry has trapped you into this but it is you who is supposed to take care of your health not the food industry.
