Everyone gets sore throat. It’s that scratchy feeling at the back of your mouth when the pharynx gets tender and swollen, making it difficult to swallow. This inflammation of the pharynx may be caused by two types of infections: viral infection and bacterial infection. Other culprits for this discomfort may be the following:
- Dry Air
- Acid Reflux
- Food Allergy
Do not disregard sore throat. You may think that it is just a minor ailment, but sore throat can actually be a symptom of a serious disease, scarlet fever, or rheumatic fever. Gargling is a handy home remedy that is easy to prepare. Simply add 1/2 teaspoon salt to a cup of very warm water to make a saline solution. It helps reduce the inflammation and loosens the annoying phlegm. You can also try gargling with curative herbs such as sage and turmeric. If your sore throat lasts for more than two to three days, you better take that trip to the doctor’s office to avoid further complications.
